I don't own one, but if I did I would keep the seat down. I think it looks cleaner/cooler that way. Then I would also tell people there is no room to take them for a ride LMAO!!!

When I owned a 2+2 in the late 60s, my rear seat was usually down. as like others, it just looked cleaner. Besides, back then, I could not afford anything of tangible value, thus didn't worry about it being stolen. Ha, ha!

I took the rear seat assembly out and installed the shelf made for a 66 Shelby back there, so it's always down now. :) It's also where I keep the spare tire mounted to clear up some space in the minimal trunk.

I've thought about doing that. Does your interior smell like rubber?
Not at all. But I also have a black vinyl cover over the tire so it doesn't get eaten up by the sun coming through the rear window. Another thing I did was put a long bolt with a large washer through the panel and up through the spare tire. It's the same thread as the mounting bolt that goes into the trunk. I have the mounting plate and oversized wingnut to tighten it down and keep the spare from moving around while I'm driving.

Down, because otherwise it rattles like hell over potholes.

Plus then you can hide cool stuff under the seat!
