Howdy all.
OK... Here is more detail on what I would like to try:
Everyone meets at Woodfeld Mall in the parking lot of the Hooters Restaurant.
If the lot is very crowded, we may be parked in one of the Mall parking lots
immediately next to the Hooters. It will be hard to miss a bunch of old Mustangs
together wherever we wind up. Besides, you have 90 minutes to find us!
If you can't find us, call me (Zim) on my cell phone: 630-373-3404.
Hooters is not in the main mall, but rather in its own building on the north side of
the mall off of Golf Road. (South side of Golf Road)
We will meet there Starting about 4 PM on Saturday August 17, 2002.
We can hang out there for about an hour and a half or so, and then about 5:30
PM, we will start our own cruise down to the Weekly cruise night in Lombard.
This should get us there right around 6PM when the people actually begin to
arrive. Remember - I want our parade to be noticed! If we leave earlier, we wont
catch the attention, and if we leave later, the lot might start to fill up.
We will start out by going south on Meacham Road, which then becomes Medinah
road south of the Elgin Ohare Expressway.
Then we will turn left on Irving Park Road, and follow that east to Rohlwing Road.
We will then rurn right on Rohlwing road (route 53) and follow that south to St.
Charles Road in Lombard.
We will then turn left on St. Charles, and follow that east into town, right through
the middle of the cruise.
Specifically.. Once we get to Lombard, we want to drive through the "Cruise"
part of the show... In other words, we want to go through the middle of the
show on St. Charles Road. We will pass the 5th 3rd Bank (on the right) where we
normally meet, and drive straight through east to Main Street.
We will then turn right, go under the railroad bridge, and then immediately turn right
on Parkside Avenue. (The first street south of the tracks.)
Follow Parkside back west to Elizabeth St., and turn right again, crossing the
tracks again. Then turn right Back onto St. Charles Road again, and this time
enter the alley just past the bank (on the east side of the bank) and proceed
into the parking lot where we will all be able to park together - if we have
managed to stay together up to that point.
For those of you that want to skip the cruise, we will be at the bank around 6PM.
I think it will be fun to drive right through the crowd with a line of Mustangs. This
is where most of the people congregate and it will hopefully attract a lot of
attention.
So why Lombard again?
Because it is on a Saturday, and we seem to be able to get the best turnouts on
Saturdays, and because nobody has come up with any better place to go on
a Saturday.
