Played hookey today to try to resolve my linkage problem (posted the last couple of days - basically could shift to P or L but not both).

Pulled the console out of the car. Found I had the slotted plate in the shift plate upside down and backwards. Reassembled correctly and now I can actually shift into L as well as all other detents.

Trans now works correctly, except in L - I still go through 1-2-3 while in L. Valve body problem? Any ideas?

Good find. I'll have to "file that one away" for future reference.

Yes, if your tranny will shift 1-2-3 in "L", you have a valve body problem, wether it's a '66/prior or '67/later.

Thanks JP. Guess I'll have to drop it. May as well do the "shift improver" kit while its out. It's the only thing I can find for 65-66 C4's.

Wish I would have known before about the 2nd is 2-3 thing. I would have looked for a different tranny!
