I'm starting the conversion of my 1966 coupe I6 car to V8 and at the same time I'd like to address the worn out suspension, manual drum brakes and maybe the original power steering. The more I look at conversion kits, suspension kits and brake kits, the more confused I'm getting. Seems like the options are endless.
I guess the two main questions I have are if I'm going to do the power steering upgrade, and the upgrades necessary for the V8 will I address the suspension components with these two or is there additional components needed?

I'm trying to avoid buying "kits" if I'm not going to use all the components because of another upgrade.

Second question is about v8 spindles. Is there a multiple aftermarket sources for these or is Scott Drake it? They seems to be the only ones I've been able to find so far.

Any recommendations appreciated.

I would not upgrade the the car with Power Steering until you have changed everything over to V8 engine and components in the car...

I recommend the "Borgeson" Power Steering upgrade since they are really popular, work well and are all the rage in Classic Mustangs today.

You can buy V8 Spindles from a bunch of different companies...but there are people her on the VMF selling good used one all the time..

You need to decide how your going to use the car good driver ,restomod,before buying unnecssary parts .Safety should always be on the top of the list you can never go with updated brakes.

Do it in stages to avoid having the car down for long periods.

You will need wheels, so get those first, either the wheels/tires you want or just rollers for now.

I would do the rear end first and along the way start searching CL, ebay and for sale ads on Mustang boards to search for parts.

Guys pull their V8 stuff all the time for upgrades and sell their takeoffs.

I converted my 67 from 4 lug drum to 5 lug drum for under $500. That was new rear axle bearings and everything on all four brakes new except the backing plates.
