I posted this ealier but have a few more questions. I have a 351w 4bbl and my current vacuum setup is not how the Chiltons shows it for my engine. I have a 1806 650 Edelbrock Carb and the rest is stock.
Ok this is how my book says that I should have my vacuum set up:

Can I disconnect some of this stuff? WHich is correct? Do I have to hook anything up to the carb from the distributor and if so which side of the carb?? I would prefer to get rid of any of the crap I dont need (emissions stuff)....

In your current configuration, the VCV is more-or-less being by-passed is doing nothing. It's been along time since I actually had to work with this setup but by your diagrams it appears you have a vacuum timing retard diaphragm. If you do not need to worry about your emissions in your state, then get a single diaphragm vaccuum advance and use engine vacuum from your intake. Then relace the VCV with a pipe plug.
