Years ago I installed a '68 302 in my '66. Are the valve covers shown have been used on the original '66?

No, the original valve covers wouldn’t have had any writing on them.

Thanks, I've got the plain valve covers all cleaned up and painted. I'll use them.

I hated to even show the engine photo. After sitting 40 years in a barn it is nasty. When I parked it I stuffed steel wool in all the firewall boots and shifter boot. It did keep the mice out of the car although they ate some of the boots until they hit the steel wool.

Correct me if I'm wrong, But you can Not use 289 Valve covers on a 302. The rockers will hit the valve cover.
You are so corrected...

FWIW, I venture that the OP's valve covers are original to that '68 engine.... had a 302 from a '68 Cougar with those.
