I'm tearing down the heads for the 460, and I'm not sure how to go about removing the keepers. I have a spring compressor, but it's not the C type - it's the type you'd use with the heads installed on the block. So I compress the spring, then what? I've tried dislodging the keepers with a socket and soft mallet with no luck. It's a late model head with two little crescent shape clips over the keeper around the valve tip.

Best guess would be to bolt or clamp the head to the work bench after placing a small wood block under one or each valve. Then pry away.

That's where I would start
