In the middle of preparing my roof for a new vinyl top and got wondering about seam sealer.

Are vinyl top cars suppose to have seam sealer in the drip rails before the vinyl goes on?

Attached are copies of the Factory Vinyl Top Installation (first attachment), and the Dealer Installed Vinyl Top Installation Instruction Sheets (last two attachments). So, pick your poison. If you elect to go with the Dealer Installation, I do have an extra set of the 25 required screws.

Hope this helps.

While I have answered your question about where the sealer goes, I failed to address the other part of your question of what kind of sealer it was. Originally, the sealer used was "Silicone Rubber Sealant". Today, this is commonly marketed as "Silicone Adhesive Sealant.
