If you have to often start below or at 30, I would really consider installing an engine warmer, specially if engine is rebuilt recently or install it during next rebuild. I guess it can get somewhat cold in Nebraska. Instead of one water plug you put the warmer. It does wonders to cold starts and reduces bore wear dramatically. I use engine warmer up to 40degree F.
