I have this strange problem with my brand new Ford brake switch on my '69. The switch, when I remove it, works fine (closes the contacts when I push on the spring, opens the contacts when I leave it alone). When I install the switch, it seams to be "on" all the time (contacts closed), even when the brake pedal is left alone. It looks like the switch is installed only one way and can't be adjusted. Any ideas? My '69 has power disc brakes, and the correct pedal (longer for power discs, with the pedal shaft mounted on the higher location).

Thanks, Will

Do you have the right switch as well? There are two different switches: Power and non power. The after market ones seem to gloss over this fact. Get one from Ford.

Thanks for the replies. I will try and see if there is a spacer between the booster and firewall. It's hard to see because the flange is in the way. But I will check. As far as the switch goes, it has a Ford stamp on it, so I'm assuming it is genuine. I'll look into that as well.

Thanks
Will
