It looks like I am going to have to buy a set of heads due to powerheads never coming thru. The other option if you guys think it can be done and will work is have someone duplicate the one good powerhead I have.

I found this set of heads on ebay HEADS
Can you guys tell me what you think of them? I sent the guy an email asking for an airflow chart and what brand they are. I do wish the combustion chambers was closer to the 54cc of the 289 heads

190cc intake and a 2.05 valve....might be a bit much for a 302 unless you've got the cam to let them breathe.

Didn't you put in a XE262H in that engine? If so, not a good match with the heads.

I'll be interested to see who made them and what the flow numbers are.

Most likely off-shore knockoffs though at that price.

Only slightly....not really enough cam.

The heads could be made to work on a 302 with the right cam. The valve timing events would have to be optimized for the relatively large intake runners & the 2.05 valve. Otherwise....with the current cam and those heads a mushy low end.

You need something a bit smaller headwise.....I know you don't want to have to change anything else at this point. ;)

Your definatly right about that. If anything I want more low end. I like to burn a little rubber. I also only play on an 1/8th mile track.

Agree with the others . I've got the comp cam XE268 in my 302 and I love it . My heads are not stock which is one reason I chose that cam . How about the heads that are advertised in PAW - small chamber , bigger valves ....

What is PAW?
The reason I bought those cheap magnifying glasses. Their ads are so small font that I couldn't read them anymore.

Performance Automotive Warehouse. See ads on Mustangs&Fords or any other mag.

The intake ports are way too big for a 289. Even with a lot of gear, your car will be a dog at low end. There are plenty of deals if you are patient on Edelbrock Performer heads and others that would be better for your 289. I bought a "new" set of Edelbrock heads with roller rockers on Ebay for $650. They had been run on a new engine and then taken off. When I received them, they were perfect and you could tell from the exhaust valves that they were run less then a couple of hours. Keep your eyes open for another set of heads. JMO.

Snugs, I have no clue about the condition of them, but I saw a pair of AFR heads on the Atlanta Craigslist yesterday. You might want to check with the guy since you're not that far away. Here's the listing:
