What color/finish is the area between the splash shield and the door hinges supposed to be? Trying to figure out whether to strip it and prime it in prep for paint and body or if I should strip and apply undercoat. This is not concourse so I'm not really worried about what is period correct. Just trying to figure out what would be better before sending it out like being able to see it through the body seams and get everyone's take on it.

Let's wait for the experts to chime in before you start spraying paint - but - I think body color is correct.

Mine was a sloppy application of body color. I "assume" it was original...

Unless your door gap was really wide, I don't think you'd be able to see that area anyway. Most likely it would get some of the paint from when you spray the door jambs so I don't think it is anything to worry about.

The fenders were not yet installed when the cars were color coated, so that area was painted body color when the door, hinges, and A pillar were painted.
