I know it has been kicked around, but build date was 1/68, Metuchen, Candyapple red paint code. Any suggestion on what I ought to go back with?

Thanks.

Well I can tell you what my Jan 68 Metuchen car is like. You can do a search for the color, I used DP74LF but the original is a little browner, maybe even a tint of pinkish purple to it. I suggest you visit Pete's site and look under "paint shop" concerning overspray/blackout. Most restored cars are like the way he shows it, I from my original undercarriage show the body color overspray to be not as heavy. Not surprising as they were done by different people of different heights, techniques, moods etc. I decided not to follow the mainstream and reproduce what I found was originally done. Hopefully in the next month I can get it up on a lift a get some good pictures.

If you clean an area up inside the transmission tunnel, you should be able to determine what the original undercarriage primer was. Metuchen was typically red-oxide.
