I have a 68 coupe. i am running a mildly modified 289. it has a 600cfm holley carb, street dominator intake (holley), pertronix ignition, accel super stock coil, tri-y headers, 2 1/4 inch exhaust pipes w/h-pipe, 2 chamber flowmasters, c4 tranny, and 2:79 rear gears. what do you think i can pull in the 1/4 mile?

My guess 14.9! Have your tried running it at the track?

My friend has a semi-similar setup in a 67 coupe but with some head work and RV cam. I think he's pulling low 15s.
Those 2.79 gears just kill top end ;)

5 speed, 4.11s, 10.13 in the quarter mile.
Oh wait, that was a Sammy Haggar song...

My buddy runs a 66 FB with a stock 289,3:00 gears and runs consistant 14.85-14.95's. So maybe low 15's. 14.90 was one of those wishful thinking numbers! A 68 weighs a little more that a 66 but then again yours is a coupe not a fastback.

original 289 with cobra aluminum intake
holley 650 double pump
headers gt dual exhaust
4 speed toploader
9" rear with 3.89 gears
on street tires

67 mustang coupe

Anybody know of a good, legal, safe (more important than legal) place to "find out" about 1/4 mile times in the Sacramento area?
