I have a 1970 Mach M code with a 351 C 4V, (2V was origional) dearborn plant.

This car has an FMX transmission. It shifts at 30 & 60 when held to the floor. I will float down the highway at 120 easily. I do not have a tach.

Can anyone make an educated guess on the gear ratio?

Thanks,
CT

I would say 3.00---did you check the rear for a tag at the third member? Vehicle certification label on rear of door?

You can always do it by seeing how far the driveshaft goes around for one revolution of the rear wheel, it definitely works - I had a different rear than was was on the door tag & I was able to determine the ratio this way.. Check out this old thread.

That's the way I usually do it even if there is a tag or it's missing. Then you know for sure. Unless you bought the car new who knows who's changed what.
