I got my engine compartment painted gloss black today and have a question. When I put the fender back on the car, (after the engine is in) what goes between the fender and the body (where is rests)?
Is there a piece or rubber or a strip of silicone?

This would have originally had a caulking compound, and I think 3M produces a product called STRIP CAULK which can be used. You may also need to add steel spacers to get the profile of the bonnet and guard to line up.
