The most painful part if removing the moulding without damaging it. The easy part is removing the glass, just cut the rubber gasket and remove the glass.

I have a 4 meg pdf file if you want me to email it just pm me. Its quite detailed and was sent to me by someone on the mustangsteve site years ago. I won't be back online until Monday though unless I hear from you pretty quick. The pdf file is complete with pictures, tool recommendations, clip locations and instructions
Like Badcruz says, don't even attempt to remove the moldings unless you watch the video on youtube, and understand exactly how it works. Y MUST also get the right tool.
YOU WILL mess up your moldings if you don't.
There's a tool for the molding trim , i couldn't find mine so i made one out of an old 2" putty knife .

Where can I pick up one of those tools?

Most of the local guys will get stuck as well, it can be hard to find someone that knows what they are doing on these old cars, kinda like finding an alignment guy. I got mad and ripped off the molding because it was previousy damaged anyway. I paid someone to install the windshield, 90 dollars, after finding someone that was familar with old cars. Even then they got impatient re installing the trim and dented it. I told them to call it a day and finished up the trim install myself but the hands were pretty sore afterwards.
Found this set at Harbor Freight

Main thing is how are the moldings?
You can get the tool at most auto parts stores, especially the ones that sell paint. What you want to do is slide the tool in under the molding and then slide it along until you find the clip, then hook the point of one side between the molding and the clip and turn the tool to push the molding away from the clip and pop it off. Work slowly and carefully until you have removed all the moldings. Next, go to the inside with a sharp razor blade or utility knife and cut the rubber all around the windshield by sliding the blade against the windshield and cutting the gasket. The reason for cutting from the inside is that the gasket will stay with the glass and help protect the edges. Good luck.

They are in decent shape. not the best but not the worst..

When everyone said molding I was thinking weatherstripping, not the metal molding
This is what my Dad (professional body-man) used and he had the touch. I messed up my convertible moldings in 1995 trying to imitate him.

by molding we are talking about the metal pieces around the windshield, right
Yes

Yes, they are soft shiny silver, and are easy to ruin. Watch the video. You'll see how to use this tool.
okay, isn't there also a rubber weather stripping around the windshield as well?
The moldings around the windshield are polished stainless steel. In more recent years car makers used anodized aluminum to save money. For many years the trim has been eliminated, only black rubber or vinyl is visible.

The reproduction stainless moldings are much thinner and difficult to install.

Windshield guys unless they're on the old side may have never dealt with stainless or aliminum moldings around the windshield.

Slim

The rubber gasket is the main seal. Now days they just use a black heated caulk like stuff.

Very nice video.

Now, what is the rubber behind the molding officially called?
You or any could call it a seal, weatherstrip or gasket.
and once the weather strip is out then you get to clean up the black goey stuff , where latex gloves !!!!
ive heard you can use one of the olf fashioned can opener to get the moldings off. But if you do mess them up and you know how to do body work, theyre are repairable with a pick hammer, flat file, sand paper and buffing compound. not fun to do but it is doeable
