The wheels and tires I am getting may only be 1/8" away from this. What does this tab do? Could I chop off like 1/2". I cant see why not but thought I would ask if anyone has an idea why I should not do that.

The same one on a 69 bends downward, can you tell if yours was bent up at some point?

Edit: sorry just looked again at the replacements and they are listed for all years, so it looks like yours might have been bent up at some point.

Naw, that must be fiberglass, happens when passing Corvettes or from those terrible fitting body kits on some Hondas. Same thing happens to mine.

Looks like someone slathered a bunch of fiberglass in there. The tab itself looks to have resin and glass on it.
