We replaced the power steering/crank/fan belt a few days ago, and the car suddenly started making this squeaking sound. I followed the sound, and thought about what could be making it, and I'm pretty sure it is the new belt. So, what is it that makes the belt squeak? I thought it was too lose, and slipping on the pulleys, so I tightened it as best as I possibly could, but the sound is still there. Is this just from the belt being new? Is there anything I can do to stop it? (rough up the surface of the belt or pulleys a little? Or try tightening the belt again, or what?)

Put a little WD-40 or power steering fluid on the belt and pulley surfaces, see if that stops it.
