Car has been sitting for some time. Everything is there so I'll be able to take the 5.0 and AOD along with electronics and anything else that might be useful. I'm particularly curious about the rear brakes. I haven't looked at the car yet but I'm assuming they will be disks... and I think I recall someone selling brackets that'll fit these to my 8". Any input would be helpful.

I doubt a 87 town car has rear disc brakes. The only way it would have rear disc is if someone ordered it as an option.

Yea you could take the aod and the short block with the engine accessories such as ac compressor, alternator, starter and pullys. I am not sure you would want too much else unless money is really tight. The cam, heads, suspension, rear end, heads, wiring, etc. I would leave behind since they are all "mom and pop" variety parts. If you are really desperate, you could get more, but the value and performance is limited.
