I'm about to pay out to get my 66 c code coupe appraised. I don't qualify for any classic insurance so I have to prove to Allstate what the value is. I was hoping I could count on you guys to give me an idea.

CA car it's whole life. The original color was green, it now sports a sexy black paint job that after cleaning and waxing all this weekend, I'd say it was a 9/9.5.

289 engine was rebuilt 60k ago. No idea how many on car. I do about 5k a year. Garaged kept. Runs perfectly. Has 600cfm Edelbrock carb and Performer intake, K&N airfilter, Crane ignition, dual exhaust. Detailed. Trans = C4 with shift kit.

Front springs are new 620 Magnas, rear are new 4.5 leaf Magnas. All new bushings and hardware. 1 inch front sway bar with poly bushings. Has SSB front disc's with 4 piston calipers, new rear drum hardware.

No rust to be found anywhere. Original floors and all body panels.

Interior has new standard seat covers, all panels repainted. Center console.

Check out pics at: http://www.zing.com/album/?id=4292999745

I was hoping to see 8-9k from appraiser. Am I wishing?

Thanks

Shaun

The one that always stumps me is the second car thing. It;s just my wife and I, I have the Stang, she has a Focus. I take the bus to work everyday as parking is $30 a day! She drives hers. To qualify every driver in the house must have a second car aswell as the classic you trying to insure. I've been round in circles for ages on this one. All I can do is get screwed by Allstate at $800 a year for my baby to sit in the garage. That's why I want to get it appraised, If I'm paying that much for insurance, I want to make sure I get what its worth should someone decied they want it more than I do! Beleive me, where I live it gets to much attention!

Thanks

It sounds like you need to go buy another daily driver Mustang!*G* You get multi-car discounts also!

Good luck...

I have Hagerty Classic Car Insurance on my '66 - full coverage for only $120 a year. My local agent took pictures of the car and told me I am limited to 3,000 miles per year. So far I've gone over twice but was under one year and am right at where I'm suppose to be all totalled.

Of course, I live here in Michigan in the sticks - not some ritzy urgan California suburb where cars are wrecked and stolen every 5 seconds (no offense, just some hypebole!). I think my local agent told me about them, but you can check them out at www.hagerty.com (I just looked them up on a web search - they have a '65 mustang on their homepage!).

And if there are any Hagerty adjusters reading this post, I was just kidding about the mileage thing!

I don't know how appraisals work, but in my opinion your 66 is worth 8-9K easily. Problem is, all us stang-heads know all about the value of these great mods you've done, but will it have the same weight on an appraisal?

A month or 2 ago, Mustang Monthly did a big article on getting your Stang appraised. I didn't read it, but it might help.

I looked into the classic car insurance too. I was far from qualifying. I remember the following qualifications:

1. Less than 2500 miles/year
2. Never left unattended except in locked garage
3. All insured members of household have another primary car

CAll Haggerty. They will insure the car for less than 200 bucks a year. But you have to prove you have another car (actually 2 if your married). So if you go get a 500 dollar junker to add to your collection, your still ahead of the game.
