Was it 85 or 86 that the roller cams came from the factory? Was it all 302's. I can get an 85 302 from a thunderbird for 100.00. 90,000 on it. Not bad eh!
couple of years ago, a friend gave me a 302 from an '85 thunderbird. It had been setting in his back yard under a tarp.
I tore it down, and it was a roller motor....it also had skirts on 4 pistons broken off, and never found the broken parts.....I had to scrap the motor. It was full of water, and rusted solid...
Just wanted to let you know that '85 302's had roller set-ups
85 was "mix & match". Even some HO motors were non-roller. A friend of mine bought one of the first 85 GT's (actually a Twister II GT) brand new in Sept/Oct of 84. When we tore into it a couple years later, we found that it was NOT a roller motor. /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif
Anything 85 would be suspicious, IMHO. I beilieve that everything from 86-up was roller - even non-HO motors..........
