What's the best cocktail to help quell oil burning?

I need to change the oil in a '65 (stock 289 2V) soon. The car blows a little blue smoke at idle and some black when revved up. Should I try a can of CD2 along with some 10W40, skip that and fill with 20W50 or use a mix of 10W40 and 20W50? Any favorite combination for a slight puffer?

Sorry I just could'nt help my self.

I use Chivas Regal or Famous Grouse with water for my cocktail, I dont see any smoke because of the cigars :: ::

Try some straight 50W in summer. Next best would be 20W-50.

Best fix is a rebuild or maybe just valve stem seals if the oil burning is just at idle on cold or warm starts.

Black smoke is rich fuel mixture, which is guaranteed to bring more blue smoke over time (by washing the cylinder walls with fuel)

Fix the carb and try the heavier oil and get back to us.

Cam is right about the black oil and getting the carb fixed....

for now you can use restore to help with the blue smoke....seals may just be the culprit....take a compression test to see

Try Mobil 1 15W-50 with no additives.
