What would the closest finish to original be for 67 tie rod sleeves, clamps, bolts and nuts? I have been finishing the inner and outer tie rod ends with gun bluing along with the idler arm, pitman arm and centre link. I have an original inner tie rod end, never been touched and the gun bluing is bang on in comparison. Has anyone here used this process and would you put anything over the gun bluing for protection or not?
Thanks Randy

Sleeves are natural. I usually shoot a little satin clear after I gun blue.

Ok, what about the clamps and bolts, nuts, natural also? Do you bead blast or wire brush for natural finish? Randy

All the steering pieces were hardened so the darker "natural color" is what you are3 attempting to reproduce (cast hardened is darker than stamped piece)

What the others have offered is the typical way of getting the parts there, clean, wire wheel (if they aren't all pitted - if so find others) the color and finally protect
