I just bought a 1968 Mustang for my son. It didnt have an engine, so i put a 302 in it. The first time i tried to start it, the thing rurned over when the key was turned to the on position and also the accesory position. When the switch is turned to the start position , nothing happens. I have replaced the ignition switch, the starter relay, and even the starter. To my amazment the thing still doese this. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong to fix this?

do not have my shop manual with me but i suspect you are getting +12 volts on the "S" term of your solenoid in these positions when you should only get it in the "start" position. this could be caused by several wiring errors on you ign switch or interconnecting wiring. confirm this and repost kyour findings and we wil take it from there. i wont be home till next tue to have my schematics available. maybe Midlife will advise you before that - i will watch.

I suspect you have the S and I wires swapped on the solenoid. What colors are they now?
