Very, Very Nice!!!

When I moved out of my parent's house at age 19 (1979), my folks replaced me with a Japanese foriegn-exchange student named Machiko.

Not only did she get my old bedroom, but Dad bought her a car, also ::. . . Boy, were my feelings hurt when I returned home for Christmas the next year, and there was this nice 1966 Galaxy in the driveway . . . a 427 none the less!!! (yep, it was her's, and, knowing Dad, he got it for cheap!)

What was Dad thinkin'??!!

There are some cars you wish it was acceptable to rub your hands over it inside and out (; then someone doesn't realize it's not acceptable and they choose your car to caress.) Maybe if you offered to use a soft rag ;).

Not sure if there were any "406's" at the Knott's show, but there were some nice 427's though. OOOOuu and a 4-speed to boot. :: yum yum fd

Way cool. I am looking to buy a car in the spring. I started thinking Boss 302, but have shifted to Fairlane or 63 1/2 Galaxie. The 406 cars cost more than the 427 cars in the Galaxies, Whodathunkit. I would love to find one like that at a reasonable price.

I came across a BEAUTIFUL light blue in and out 2-door 65 Galaxie in Palatka about a month ago. Originally came with a 352, but had a 460 in it. I desperately wanted to purchase... but he wanted $5,500 and while I think it was a fair price, I just don't have it. I barely have enough money to put into the 68.

When I was about 8 or 9 years old my Grampa, who lived next door, had a `63 Galaxie 500. He used to let me drive it around in a hayfield next to his house. I grew up in a very rural neighborhood, except they called it the "sticks" in those days ;)

Beautiful.

The two hot cars in my high school were a 62 Galaxie with the 406 and 3 dueces and a 62 Impala with a 409 and 2 four barrels. Talk about torque! Of course when they were driven hard (which was often) they stopped for gas a lot. But at 29 cents a gallon, it wasn't all that bad.

In '62, the DuPage Co. Sheriff's Police pulled up to the body shop in Oakbrook, Ill. where I was working and asked us to give them a hand. Someone had cut up a burgundy colored 62 Galaxie into pieces averaging 2 to 3 ft. and scattered them on a nearby polo field and forest preserve area. It took us a couple hours to round up the remains and one piece had the 406 emblem. Like they wanted to display their chop shop mentality. ::The cuts went right though mouldings, etc. Needless to say, there was no engine, trans, dash, seats, etc. :(

I'm not normally a fan of the old Galaxie's, but I could learn to love this one!
