I was once told that if your losing oil - it can go 2 places. 1. Be burned off <or> 2. Leak out.

So - knowing this - I checked my oil today and noticed it low to the tune of 2 - 3 quarts. Strangely enough - no oil burn off coming out the rear *nor* any oil drips/puddles under the car where it parks.

Now I KNOW I put 5 Quarts in the pony before I left Dodge's house about 1500 miles ago.

Anyone know of any other ways for 2 - 3 quarts to vanish?

there is 3 places. the third is into your antifrezze....check your coolant to make sure it doens't have rainbows.

Did you put the ruber gaskets in yet? you might be leaking out the back of your valve covers and not notice it

And you might be getting just a little past the rings when you punch it and you just havne't noticed it out the tailpipe

It could be a slow burn so that you are not billowing out blue smoke like a mosquito truck.

Or a leak. Check the bell housing. Is it greasier than normal? Steam clean the engine and pay close attention. It has to be going somewhere!

sounds alot like my Mach..compression is great, the car runs great..but uses a quart about every 600 miles..Doesn't even smoke...its a slow burn..rub your finger inside the exhaust pipe..I bet it comes out black

Had that happen with a pcv that was not sucking oil as a result of poor baffling in the valve cover. Corrected the prob and no more oil loss

1. Check Antifreeze
2. Crawl under car look @ tranny bell housing
3. Finger my mufflers. *snicker - couldn't resist - sawry*
4. Pull valve covers and look at baffles
