Hello, I have a Question.

I'm in the process of putting in a new fuel system for my car so as of now my gas tank is a 2 gallon jug sittin on my driver side horn (64.5) any way i was takin my car up to the shop (so they could run a new gas line from tank to fuel pump) and i ran into a little problem. I Don't have any Power!! what i mean is the car only shifted once (its an automatic) and that was going down hill and when we had to go up the hill the pedal was all the way to the floor and we barely made it up the hill

Whats Wrong?

my father and i though that maybe the vaccum advance in the distributor isnt working and there fore throwing the timing WAY off could this be or is it somethin else?

Thanx

Does you makeshift gas tank go through the fuel pump or just gravity feed? It needs to go through the pump.

Start with the basics.
electrical (Points, cap rotor, timing)
fuel (pump, filter, choke)

Well, you do have an F-coder with a one barrel, yes?

Add to that a green dot tranny and things can get pretty sluggish if you don't pull the trans down into the second Drive position...

Try that first if you haven't already...

And, when going up a hill, pull the shifter all the way down....

If you have the ability and equipment to check the engine's state of tune, please post back and we'll go through a few basic procedures...

Good luck!

FWIW, I keep the shifter of my D-coder in green dot all the time when I'm driving....

If your downshift linkage and valve are working correctly, flooring the throttle should cause the trans to downshift...if they don't, you'll have to pull the lever back to manually downshift the trans on a hill or to pass...

Ok....get your fuel line installed, then we'll work on getting rid of the hitch in your git'along...*G*
