I came across a 8" LS with 3k miles at a super price. They're a little lower then I'd like. I'd prefer 3.25 but for the price.... I think with my 4 speed and mild GT40P it would my my car a terror on the street. I'm not exactly doing long distance drives either. My tires are 215/60/15's.

I have 3.55 but I have a cobra T5 with 17” wheels. I absolutely love them though. In 4th gear it’s still good.

If not doing much highway then cool! Use an online calculator and input your tire size and you will see your engine rpm at any given speed.

3.55 here with Toploader. Spinning close to 3500 rpm at 70 mph and loving every minute of it. Lots of miles with this combo. Running 205/60/15 tires all the way around.

I have 3.55s with a T-5z and it's perfect. The roads to work are usually 55-60 mph and it has a nice cruising rpm but enough get up and go at the lights.

I love mine. I have had mine in for over 30 years. 17 years or so was behind a c4 with 225/60x14...I even drove it from Michigan to California in that configuration. Go for it, you will not be sorry.

Oh yea, jump on it, The difference on the autocross track is night and day with LS, you can really dig out of a corner and throttle steer becomes possible as does spinning-out as I have successfully demonstrated with you in the car ;o). I have 350s, and I can take any RPM double it, remove two zeros and get the speed close enough in 4th 1:1 gear. For our country roads its really just fine, but not as much fun out on on hwy 81 with flowmasters and a 70+ speed limit for long distance. That said, i drove the car that way for 17 years. Now if you keep your eye out for a 5 speed - life becomes as it should be...

3.55 should be a good gear for autocross with a close ratio toploader. I run out of second gear @ 6400rpm on the faster courses with a 3.40 and a T5z.

I sure hope you've got one more long distance drive left :) I've got 3:50s which as stated many folks like. It'll be a lot of fun to drive Tom.
