So how do (did) they do smog checks on 65/66 GT exhausts? Can't get the probe through those trumpet slats! Not that it matters to me, my 66 is exempt. Just curiosity.

Thats a very good Question. What's the answer, I have no Idea. Down here in palm beach county they did away with all smog test all together. This is great for me because my newest car is an 83

I had the GT trumpets on my last '66 coupe, back when we had to SMOG them. They would just put a sleeve over the trumpet, then stick the probe into the sleeve. Of course this would only be after telling my headers were illegal, or my Holley carb was illegal, or my air filter was illegal, or ...
