I was wondering becuase i would like to hold 20-21 gallons instead of 16

Yes, it will fit, but use a '69 sending unit or your guage will be off. You will sacrafice a little trunk space to accomodate the other 2 gallons ('69 is only 18 gallons, it went to the 20 gallon in '70). The bottom of the tank will be in exactly the same place as the old one, the added capacity is in the height of the tank inside the trunk.

Actually John ; the 69 is 20 gals & the 70s are 22 ! The 69 tank is 1" taller in the trunk and adds 4 more gals. 70 tank is 2" taller for just 2 more gallons more than the 69. 25% more gas is good.

You bet! I put a 22-gallon tank in my fastback because Trouble's a thirsty devil. ::

I put a '70 in my 65 FB and found that the issue of it being taller was a non-issue. For the extra gallons, it was a no-brainer.

Mustang Monthly did an article a few issues ago on that very topic. They showed how to put it in step by step. I can't remeber exactly what issue it was though. I guess it works pretty well and they highly recomend it.
