I just got wind of a great deal from a friend who has some 351 Windsor heads he'd be willing to give to me for a cool $100. They are newly hot tanked and rebuilt with a valve job and all. I don't know what size valves yet. Anyway from what I've read everything says it should be ok. The casting # is D7OE. I'd be putting them on my 66 289. Whaddaya think?

Stay away from them! They have huge 69 CC chamber heads and very restrictive exhaust ports. You'd most likely loose 1.5 points in compression! Your 289 would be a real dog. To add instult to injury, the valve size on the 77 and up heads are the same as 289/302 heads.

The only difference those 77 351W heads between 77 302 heads is the head bolt size. Not like the good old days when 351W heads had bigger ports and valves.

I have a couple of sets of those heads... I can't give them away. OTOH there was a set on my 289 when I bought it, and the seals were shot. Laid down a nice smoke screen when I floored it!
