It's been just a little chilly here in Kansas. Out in Utah, I used to go shovel the drive every morning at 5:30 am, usually wearing just shorts and a t-shirt with snowboots. At zero degrees, I'd be breaking a sweat.

But here, 20 degrees is COLD. Maybe it's the wind. Maybe it's the air density. I don't know what it is, but Kansas gets scary cold. Frostbite cold. I know this from personal experience.

It's been below zero the last couple of days, with 30 mph wind blowing. My hot water pipes froze, but thankfully I got 'em thawed back out before they burst. Even by my standards, it's cold.

I saw some snowmen migrating south this morning...

Why does the inside of that door and frame look more like what the outside understandably does? 😵‍💫
Burrrrr 🥶🥶🥶🥶
Worn door seal most likely, it's also the employee entrance on the hospital side of the complex I work at. It gets used frequently by staff.

I’ve see two guys on motorcycles this week. One at 1030pm. We have snow and ice and single digit temps.
I did that 1 time only about 50 years ago. My wife & I went to see my mom ,she drove the car & I rode the Triumph I had. About 20 miles in low 20 degree temps wearing a leather coat & Jean's. Coldest I ever been in my life .
When I got in the house it was close to 15 minutes holding my hands almost on the top of a wood burning heater before I could uncurl my fingers . If I were to ride one now it would be warm like really really warm .

A guy in my town rides his year round. I'm not certain what the motorcycle is, but it's olive drab green, and the kicker is it has a sidecar!

I just hate the really cold weather . If you think the last minute shopping on Christmas eve is bad just imagine trying to find a well pump control box on Christmas eve. Because you have no water . Then imagine your in the 13 degree weather on a service call searching for why the unit you installed a new blower motor in a week back has quit heating now.
And nice guy you are you can't say no because they have relatives coming from Tenn for Christmas & last night the customer & his family had to stay in a hotel to escape the cold .

Then imagine your in the car headed home with the heater & seat warmer both turned on high & doing it . About the only good thing with the cold are the last 2 .
