I'm wiring up my new MSD 6AL box and it says to connect the red wire to the ignition wire after the switch not the in coming 12v side. I have some old 1970 wiring diagrams and from what I gather its the solid yellow wire. Does this sound right or does anyone know for sure? I almost connected it to the 12v side coming from the solenoid! Just for info I'm also running a Mallory comp 9000 distributor.
I believe the set up your talking about is if your using a magnetic pick up. I'm using the points trigger/with unilite module set up. It says on the MSD ignition web site to run the red from the distributor and the red from the MSD box to the ignition wire after the switch. My problem is there are about 10 wires coming out of the harness on the steering column and I think its the yellow wire but I'm not 100% sure.
Oooopsss. I should have read this post first. I posted the wrong diagram. Well, I guess that will teach me for being away from the forum all day. *G*
But they have a wiring diagram for hooking the comp 9000 upto the msd 6al. Here it is: http://www.centuryperformance.com/mallory/images/msd6_uni.jpg
If you have any questions, let me know and I can see what I can do to answer them for ya.

Sorry, The yellow wire I was talking about comes from the ignition switch ,I believe. I'm trying to find out which colour of wire to connect the thin red wire from the MSD and the red wire from the distributor to. I know they join together to hook up with the ignition switch. Can you hook them up with the ignition switch power side that comes from the solenoid or does it have to be the side returning from the ignition switch?
