My new 289 is making a noise and the mechanic that I got my new pistons from thinks it's a wrist pin. He has agreed to pull the motor and tear it down and fix it for free since he did all the machine work, heads, and new pistons. I've never heard of a wrist pin causing this much noise.

Trust your mechanic. If he did all the work for you, he probably is the best one to re-do it. Sorry to hear about it, but it shouldn't be that bad.
Good luck

Wrist pin noise sounds almost like a rod knock...Not quite as loud though, but consistant with rpm's. It can go away at certain rpms and load conditions......
