I am very, VERY happy right now. I just got my first car.....69 Mach 1!! I got it off of eBay with the help of my Dad(I am only a teen, and we are going to restore it together) We got it for 4800. Can't wait till we get it home. I will post pics of it when we get it home. It has a 302 2 barrel(that will eventually be changed to at least a 351W or 351C) It is a 4 speed. More info to come.

If in doubt give it a clout

My name is 67_Mustang cause when I first found this site, I like 67's the most.....well, now my favorites are the 69's. I will change my name to 69_Mach or something like that soon. I asked Bob to give me the title Mustang Teen in the VMF chat room. :) I will get some pics of the car and my dad and I as soon as it's home. John, I will be sure to contact you about the 351W later on. Thanks a bunch for the help. Oh, and yeah, we have access to a welder up in Chicago.(only about 3 hours away) Thanks for the good luck everyone....I think we'll need it to get the restoration done. :)

Hi Sean,
Hey, I'm happy for you and I understand your excitement. I bought my '65 fastback when I had just turned 17 and I can still remember how excited I was even though it's been over 20 years now. One thing that doesn't change is my love for my car.
Good luck with your car and enjoy it.
Bob

Hey Shaun, did you get the vin # from the guy. It's more than likely an "F" code which make the 302 2bbl correct as you stated it has. But unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, the data plate on Ebay sure looks like an "R" code, which would be totally awsome to have a 428 Cobrajet Mach 1.

Here's some info, I'm sure you already have figured it out, but just in case here's how it came from the factory.

Year: 9 1969
Plant: T Metuchen, NJ
Body Series: 02 SportsRoof
Engine: F 302 2v or R 428 4v V8 CJ Ram Air
Unit: 218027 218027
Body: 63C SportsRoof, Mach 1, Deluxe Interior
Color: 45 Silver Jade Metallic w/Flat Black Hood
Trim: 3A Black Vinyl and Black Knitted Vinyl, Mach 1 Luxury
Date: 25G July 25, 1969
D.S.O: 38 Pittsburgh

Didn't see the tranny number or axle number. I would be curious to know what the Vin number is, post it if you don't mind?

Looks like you got a nice deal and a super project!!!

You are much smarter than I was at your age. I could have bought my neighbors 69 Mach 1 (back in 83) for $2300...Instead, I bought a 76 Z 28 for $3500. Nice car, don't get me wrong, but looking back. Well you know, kinda dumb.

It took me 17 years to finally get my 69...Best of luck to you.

Sean, congratulations! What a great way to get started. Whizco's post prompted me to go look at the pictures of the VIN on eBay. I'm guessing the engine code is an H, which makes the 351-2v the correct engine for this car. But, of course, you can do whatever you want. That's the fun of restoring! Good luck!

We will be picking the car up next weekend, so I will have pics and more info, including the rest of the vin that was cut off in the picture. Also, I have another question. In the description of the car on eBay, it said that it has the hood scoop, but not sure about wiring for it......does this mean it is a working hood scoop, not a simulated scoop? If so, weren't the only 69's with functional scoops the 428 CJ ram-air's(besides the shelbys)? Thanks for the info Whizco. I can't really tell what that letter is either.....but I sure hope it's an R!

i gotta agree with bored on his comment about the cars being chick mags. Before i got my liscence (im 17 now) i took some pics of my car to school and in one day had 9 girls that wanted to go for a ride! and just think of it...your cruising and some Ricer is trying to pick up on some girls and you cruise up and rev up at him....who is she gonna choose?....yeah its great driving my 68 coupe

Good for you. That's is way better than my first, which was a 59 Edsel 4-door. I love that car, and regret selling it every day. No matter what, hang on to this one, trust me. It's like your first girlfriend, without the baggage.

Sean, there are turn signals mounted on the back of the hood scoop where the driver can see them. There should be wiring that comes through the firewall and connects through the hood under the the scoop for those.

Oh Sean ~ that's terrific! And what a great project. My dad and I restored a 1956 Nash Metro together and have alot of memories to treasure.

I just picked up my '69 Mach 1 on Thursday and am having lots of fun with it already!

Best of luck with your restoration...Jill
