Well, I need a new project. Here's what I'm thinking, so bear with me.
Get a 1965 fastback and tear it down all the way. Get all the convertible chassis components from NPD and install those to beef up the frame and chassis. Get the Heidt's Double A arm front suspension, Ford racing/Centeforce Clutch Kit, heavy duty Tremec five-speed manual tranny, Ford Racing 9 inch real axle with a 3.75:1 ring and pinion gearset, anti-roll and traction bars. Now for the engine.... How about a 5.0 Cammer? Yeah, I know it's a crate engine, but those 4 carbs just turn me on. Oh yeah, I'll add a cold air induction hood. What do you guys think? What would you change?

It's a 420 HP carbureted engine Ford Racig Performance Parts (FRPP) put together to show at SEMA, and the crate motors will be available by the end of the year. You can order one from either a FRPP dealer or warehouse distributor. BTW, those are four 2 barrel webers sitting on top of a custom Ford Racing Intake. This sucker produces a torque curve that peaks at about 395 foot-pounds at 4000 RPM. And, Emberglow, I don't street race, so it will be used mainly for the track.

Good grief, we are already on page 3 here. LMAO. Can we not get these posts to "pop to the top" This forum really moves, doesn't it? Yes, you can get it fuel injected. A lot of old Mustangers complained about the ability to work on it though, so they came through with the carb model. Here's a pic of the EFI model.

Yeah, Horsepower costs doesn't it? Especially with these new models. I figure a new muscle car like a new Mach will cost me 30 grand or more. For that much, I can build a car much superior to a factory muscle car. AND, I get the pleasure of getting grease under my fingernails. :: BUT, with a carburated engine, I can actually work on it without special electronic tools which cost more than the car is worth.

its not horsepower that costs, its shiney things that cost a lot (and it seems thats what you want).

If you want that much horsepower you could have it a lot cheaper... a LOT cheaper. In fact you could have that engine for a lot cheaper if you didnt want the crate engine and the webber-style carbs.
