65 coil marking

NPD sells a coil decal for a 65 with a date code code of 7113. What does this date decode to? and what would be correct for a late May 65 San Jose car?

original coils used an ink stamp not a decal. this date code would not be correct. a point of interest though is when the coil is properly installed in the bracket the stamp is almost completely hidden.

Believe the decal you are referring to has a 7L13 date, which would be 13 of November '67.

You can buy the decal and use it as a template to get a rubber stamp made, substitute a date applicable to your car.

fascinating, a refurbished coil sells for 100 bucks?

What is the preferred type of "ink" for applying?
oil-based enamel, acrylic enamel, spray paint...?

Also, when did they change to (or from) "autolite"?
In the trunk I found a (pretty banged up) yellow top coil that reads "FoMoCo 7113"

Silver spray can paint would be best. It doesn't have to look perfect, since as Fred mentioned, the stamp is usually completely or mostly obscured by the bracket.

Jim Osbourne also makes another early FOMOCO coil decal with a "4DBB" date marking in Yellow... The date would be more correct for '65/'66 but I don't know about the yellow color though... The Jim Osborne part# is "DF1098" for the decal..for anyone that needs to know..
