It's midnight at your location so photos are probably not practicle right now...but post some and we'll have an idea of your general set up...carb, ignition, etc.

 

How did you check for spark?

 

Did it sputter and die, or just stop like turning off the key? I would think sputter and die would be fuel related and sudden stop may be electrical.

 

started fine but turned off after a minute.
crank but not start up.

These are symptoms of a broken resistor wire. If that wire is bad, the engine will fire when cranking but will shut off when the key is turned to run.

 

Could also be a stuck needle valve. Dry plugs would indicate that. Is the primary float floating?

 

Once again we seem to have been ghosted...

I wasn't really paying attention when it died, but I don't recall hearing any sputtering. I'll check everything you guys mentioned and let you know what happens.

 

 

From your photo- clearly someone has stolen your wiring harness.

 

Cylinders have lost compression, so I'll be pulling the motor out soon.

No/low compression?.... has the timing chain or gear failed?

 

The cylinders were reading 40-50psi

 

No way it will start with those readings

 

Did you perform the compression test with all plugs removed, fully-charged battery, and the throttle blocked wide open?

 

The engine isn't starting sadly, so I'll be pulling the motor out soon.

I'm looking at getting an engine rotating kit from summit racing and I'm looking at the brands SCAT engine components and eagle specialty products. Does anyone have any experience with these products, good or bad? If so, which one would you recommend?

My next question is what sort of piston would you guys recommend?

I'm overall looking for a bit more horsepower

 

Removed the plugs one at a time when testing. The Battery was completely charged, and the throttle block was wide open.

 

All the plugs need to be out to do it properly.
