69/70 AM FM would have 2 flat plugs.
4 wires on speakers. 2 on the power plug

AM would have 2 and 2

 

Ok. I wasn’t so worried about the wiring not being right but rather the fitment of the radio in the dash. I’m thinking the one I have is too thick and after further research it looks like the support clip in the back is incorrect on mine as well. Thx

I've seen the late 70s am/fm radios fitted in 69 and 70 Mustangs before so it must be doable with a little work. I plan to install one in my 70 Mach later this summer and will document it for the forums when I do.
