302 OEM Cam Specs?

Does any one know where I can find the stock cam specs for a 1968 J-Code engine (302 4v)? I am pretty sure that since this was a high output version, it had a different cam than the 302-2v.

I am rebuilding my engine and I would like to put something in close to stock.

Thanks,

Paul

The cams were the same for both of the 302's in 68. The extra compression and hp came from the heads because of the smaller combustion chamber. Even if you're rebuilding for show, nobody can see the cam. Get a modern grind that optimizes the way the car will be used. Or if you're set on the stock cam, either Crane or Comp probably makes a OEM replacement. I just put a Comp Cams XE262H in my 68 J code motor and I love it. It's not a stock grind, but it has lots of mid-range torque.

That's a very nice looking 68 you have!

I have heard that the j code heads have a smaller combustion chamber leading to higher compression. I have also heard the chamber is not smaller and that the additional compression is from the stroke length. Do you know which is correct? I am thinking about changing the heads and intake on my 289 2bbl to j code so I am of course curious.
