Is the '66 supposed to Ford Dark Blue (Krylon name) or a light blue? Are all the brackets, valve covers etc. also painted blue? What about the PS pump? What paints seem to hold up best and which ones work best on an installed engine that might have some bare spots following clean up? Thanks for the help.

Block should be dark Corporate Blue (I like Plasticoat for a rattle can for the 66 color)

How exact do you want the details? I'm betting your not looking for exact concours guidlines

In general the engine is painted as a unit (long block plus intake, oil pan, water pump) for this year and model - exhaust, carb spacer and bellhousing were in place but few do it this way because is looks sloppy and leaves some areas unpainted)

Pulleys, PS and Alt brackets were semi-gloss black (slightly glossier (S?) than the engine compartment)

PS pump color depended on which maker built the pump (often a factory or dealer installed question)

C Turner posted a site a couple of days ago with the older version of the MCA judging rules a good start.

As you go through the process you can just post the item by item request here and everyone will try and help out

The '66 inline 6 was completely Ford Corporate blue, just like the 289 engine that year. Ford Corporate blue is a very dark blue, unlike Ford blue, which most people commonly and mistakenly apply to their '66 engines.
