I have found a 69 R code fastback thats been sitting for several years. It needs rear floors and trunk drops, has correct toploader,4L30 diff.,oil cooler,is missing engine, shaker and all other SCJ items..
What do you think I should offer him?

Thanks

Since it's a R-code, its very collectible. There were roughly 72,000 Mach's sold in "69 but less than 15% had the 428CJ. I would pay a little more for the car without losing any sleep over it.But ,it will take some time to locate all the parts you will need if you are working on a budget although the end result will be worth it!

I have a 69 R-code and I can tell you that all the parts that aren't being reproduced are in really high demand and therefore they go for big bucks. I wouldn't pay very much for it.

UMHO walk away. Unless you need a parts car or the car is an odd ball low production Mach for some reason you haven't shared (they built tons of CJ's) its not worth the pain. My general offer for this sort of car is the value of the parts you can sell quickly (at a price you can sell them quickly) divided in half.

if its an R-code fastback that is NOT a mach, then I would buy it, absolutely. You won't be able to tell from the VIN because both the '69 mach and regular fastback had 02 as their the body code. you have to look closely at the car for the mach extra's. Hopefully it doesn't have them-ie blacked out hood, hood pins, deluxe interior, pop open gas cap, stripes, chin spoiler, mach I emblem on passenger side dash, etc. you should check it out closely.
