Howdy pardners!

MY alternator warning lamp came on super bright the other day ( which surprised me cuz 90% of older rides I have owned those warning lamps never seem to work at all ) Now because of the age and looks of both the alternator and the V regulator I installed a new regulator and a 50.00 lifetime Alt....All is normal but that pesky warning lamp still glows....its faint but still on...even after spending the day driving around.

Has this ever happend to you and what should I have looked at next?

Thanks!

I quit buying auto part store starters and alternators long ago. Find an auto electric shop and have them fix it - you won't regret it!

My epiphany moment came years ago while struggling to replace a starter in a 5.0L mustang (my daily driver) during a downpour, for the 3rd time in as many months - sure it was "lifetime guaranteed" but I found my labor and reliability were worth more to me.

I had a 65 do that once. The owner told me the alternator was brand new. Came from Autozone. Alt light would not go out. I removed it and took it to a local guru who rebuilds them. He had to replace the diode pack. I reinstalled it and when the engine started, the light went out. No problems since.
Hope this helps.
