You can't use Lithium grease on wheel bearings, you will kill them. You have to use Moly grease or synthetic there. That said:
I also use Mobil 1 synthetic grease everywhere. Ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, etc. It's excellent. Also, the Slick 50 stuff works good too. For seat tracks, door tracks, window regulators, hinges, etc. I use white lithum grease.
Why the difference? Lithium grease is "thinner", or more correctly, has a lower viscosity. It's great for getting into hard to reach grooves like seat tracks and window channels. The trade off is low heat resistance. Lithium grease will quickly liquify in an area that sees excessive heat and friction, such as a wheel bearing or even a ball joint (very close to brakes, and heavily loaded). When that happens, things are going to fail.
