I'm building a 69 Mach 1 I know 1st off whole floor needs to be done including trunk. I have a 429engineC6transmission already but I'd like to go with a 6speed out of a 2014 where would I buy pedal assembly along with bell-housing. Like I said building from the ground up. Everyone is telling me put an explorer rear end where I'll have disc brakes on the rear I'd like disc brakes front and rear. Before I build engine I need to build front suspension and put a rear end in it. So after I bead blast the whole car on a rotisserie top and bottom side. What would be next step , by the way I found a whole wrecked 2014 with 5.0 and 6 speed at my local Copart store. What would be best this car will be my project that I've always wanted. This is my 1st time on this page any help would be appreciated Thanks my Mustang friends.

Disc brakes are cool, on a car as lightweight as the mustang they're not really needed. But, full disclosure, im putting an 8.8 from an 06 with discs in mine. If you still have the original 8"/9" put that in for now. See how the build progresses. Mating a late model 6 speed to the 385 series engine might be "fun." While id bet the adapters are available, I doubt it will be a bolt in situation, adapter or not. You would need a hydraulic clutch conversion, not a big deal, you would need a GPS speedometer, again, just money. Crossmember would most likely need to be fabbed by you.

If you're building a modified 429, yeah, I would highly recommend a 9". BTW, all 1969 and 1970 Mach 1 Mustangs came from the factory with a 9" differential. The big block cars got a nodular iron example. Does your car not have the factory diff?

FYI, the 6-speed trans will involve some cutting of the firewall/trans tunnel area. If you're good with that, cool. But be aware there are multiple 5-speed options that will bolt right in. I went with a TKO-600 for my '70 Mach 1 and I really like it. However, there's a new 5-speed that would likely be a better option.

Yeah, rear discs are cool, and they install them on all the car TV shows. But you really don't need them. If you want them, there are better options than an Explorer diff. You can get some very nice rear disc kits specifically designed for a 60/70 Mustang and I think that would be a better way to go.

Since you're asking, I'll throw in my two cents. I recently finished a complete resto/build on my '70 Mach 1. It took me 8 years and I kept it pretty simple. The more complex you make things, the longer your build will take and more the likely it will never get finished. If you're an experienced builder and you know what you're getting into, cool. Have fun. But if you're new to the car building thing, I would politely suggest you keep things simple. It will be more fun, it won't take nearly as long and you'll still have a great, classic car.
