Hi All,
I drained the transmission fluid from my 65 Mustang, repaired a shift shaft leak and, replaced the pan gasket and filter. I used a small amount of LTV on the mating surface. Question I have now is whether or not I can drain the torque converter rather than not and allowing the old fluid to mix with the couple new quarts of Type 4 that I have in the pan?
I know there are other means of getting the old fluid out of the torque converter but this would be my preference, if possible.
Help!
Thanks
T

Not sure what exactly you are asking

can you mix fluid new and old? Yes
Can you drain the converter via drain plug? Yes

if I was doing it, I would drain the converter. It takes a few minutes of work. It will take time for it to drain.

Thanks for your feedback. My post about the C4 torque converter plug was whether or not there is one and how to find it.
After this post. I removed the inspection plate but, could not locate it on the converter.
Also, I ran the Ford id stamped codes on the tail shaft and discovered that my transmission has a C4 case but the tailshaft is from a C6 Shelby Boss.

Again, thanks,
T

I never drained the TC

I change the fluid too often to worry about what's left in there
about every 5 years or 5k miles lol
