I have eventually got the 68 Fastback now fitted with AC... PHEW !!!

I had a drama routing the ducting though over to the drivers side vent (had to run it under steering column)... it works, but if you bend down you can see it... doesnt get in the way of pedals though.

And I had to change the FAN switch over to a switch CAA provided...that was a shame.. sort of wrecks the look of the factory controls.

Anyone else had experience putting one of these in a 68 factory AC car ?

Thanks from Down Under.

Congratulations on the successful install! Can you post some pics of the switch, vents and under hood and dash?

I have a 67 that has the aftermarket under the dash unit, probably from the 80s as it has a newer compressor, and I'd like to add something more factory looking. How hot does it get "down under?"

ZForce,

It gets to 40 celsius in summer... some days even hotter... and this morning for instance it got down to minus 2 celsius... which is enough to put a layer of ice down all over the car... gotta love that new defroster !!!!! So where I live it gets to either end of the thermometer ! In some parts of central Oz it gets over 50 Celsius...

Glad you got it installed. Is it cold yet?
You didn't use the non A/C control panel? It looks factory with it.
If people didn't know to look at it, they wouldn't recognize it as a non a/c panel!
I bought extra ducting, routed it over the steering column. My car was at the stage of putting the complete interior back together, so installing this kit was no sweat.
The underhood looks great! no holes to drill in the radiator support. fit perfect. the only draw back was the rubber hose on the passenger side floor, I think I had to drill a new hole.
Heat and defrost is indeed nice!

I installed CAA in my 67 a few years back...at the time they sold a kit that allowed you to use the stock controls....it required replacing the fan switch itself but, from the outside, you can't tell the difference...I assume they still sell the kit if you wanted to go thet route.
