Try it in 100+ degree summer Texas weather. I don't live in the frozen tundra and won't bore a SBF over .30, neither will any of my buddies and my machine shop guys recommend against it and they have been in business longer than I have worked on cars (45 year for me) and why they cleaned up my Shelby's original block with .020. And my guys only build custom racing engines, not grocery getters. So you can keep your hogwash.

He may have the timing off, it could be a lot of things. but you northerners can have the big over bores, not wanted here.
I’ll buy all the blocks they won’t go .030 over on. Lol

I'm not saying they won't bore one over .030, they will if you ask, you're the customer. It's hard enough keeping a SMF cool in a vintage Ford in the Texas summer, and even harder if you end up sitting in long lines of traffic.

Not a problem for me, I'm sitting on 4 low mileage 302 roller engines with original bores and usable as is or at worst case minor over bore, and at least one 65 289 that is only .020 over as it sits and it was not driven long before abandoned for a roller motor and given to me. Lord knows what other crap I will find when I clean of the storage after I build my new garage.

Yep! I like to hoard them as well!! I have 4 blocks sitting in my garage right now. Two of them are partial vin stamped to my 68’s so I don’t count those. They are getting harder to come by.

Think of the little holes as steam holes, the large hole in the back of the gasket are the main coolant holes that provide the volume around the heads.
