If anyone can I need help decoding this tag off a steering gear box that I have, allI know is that it is a Ford box. The tag reads SMA B OFO5B any help would be apperacited.

According to THIS CHART, it's a 67 Fairlane/Comet/Montego sort shaft box for power steering, 16:1 ratio...

Per the MPC, it fits a lot of things: 65-77 Comet, 68-71 Montego/Cyclone, 65-71 Fairlane/Torino. As indicated before, it's a 16:1 power steering box with a 7 3/16" long input shaft. Service part number C5OZ-3504-A, it is equivalent to boxes marked HCA-BV, HCA-BZ, HCA-CA and SMA-B1. Oh, the assembly date on that box was June 5th, 1970 by employee "B".
